Cards for the Troops - Mother's Day 2017
Do you like crafting for causes? I run a drive to make cards for our Troops about twice a year. It is time for us to make Mother's Day cards to get them in the mail by the end of March so they can go overseas to our deployed troops in time to send out to their mothers and wives for Mother's Day. Of course, they also need birthday cards, thinking of you ones, anniversary and birth and just about every other type of card. Even blank ones (inside) with no sentiment attached are appreciated. If this interests you and you would like to help, read more about the drive here: Cards for Troops Drive 2017
Thank you for any help you can give our Troops.

Thoughts and Prayers
.
The Thoughts and Prayers stamp set allows you to send some pretty special greetings. There are sensitive words in it for expressing sympathy, sending get well wishes, and letting them know you are thinking of them and praying for them. At card class today I taught stampers how to use the emboss resist and masking techniques. It was a fin class.
The card first posted relied only on white embossing and sponging with inks, but the second card included stamping over the top of the embossing and sponging.
I liked them both.
All supplies listed below are available for you to purchase from my SusanSalutations online store.

Watercoloured Rose
What a lovely stamp set this is to work with, and there are so many options in it for sentiments - birthday, wedding, sympathy etc. It is a very useful set. AND it has its own framelits too. This time though. my class was using it to make a lovely water colour card with inks and an aqua pen. I showed them how to use different colours on their rose in my sample, and then everyone's cards came out different as everyone chose their own favourite colours to work with. I love that everyone can be so creative with Stampin' Up! supplies! All supplies for this card are listed below and are available at SusanSalutations. If you would like instructions, I am giving them away if you place an order this month.

Shimmery White Glimmer Paper Watercolouring
Did you know you can water colour on Shimmery White Glimmer paper? You can! Customise your Notebooks with Fruit!
I am sure if you have ever been in school yourself or had children in school, you would have covered exercise books,, right? That's all I did with this. Well, I adapted my covering a little. As designer series paper isn't quite large enough to cover a whole book, I cut separate pieces for the front and back, and cut a strip that I scored down the middle to make a cover for the spine. I did add thin strips to the borders of the covers before putting my fruit piece on top. I did cut another piece form the lined designer series paper in the pack and made a 'window' to write on. It's kind of like making a card too, I think.
I added some shading to the striped piece with a Stamp 'n Write marker. I matched the colour to the colours in the designer series paper.
I hand-wrote the name for this book in black journaling pen. You could stamp it with an alphabet stamp if you wished.
I stamped apricots (peaches?) on top of the lined paper afterward to finish it off, and also because I love stamping 😄
Just think of the possibilities!! Happy Stampin'!
Supplies:
Stamps:Fresh Fruit
Designer Series Paper: Fruit Stand
Stampin' Write! markers: Peekaboo Peach, Basic Black
Inks: Peekabook Peach, Cucumber Crush, Memento Black
Adhesive: Tombow Multi liquid glue
